Our Team

Mike is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in taxation, financial reporting, investments, and real estate. Before co-founding ConnectCPA, he served as a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in advising small and medium-sized businesses. Additionally, Mike gained experience as a tax and accounting manager at a mid-sized accounting practice and as an Investment Associate at a real estate private equity firm. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Schulich School of Business and is a Chartered Accountant.

Prior to co-founding ConnectCPA, Lior owned and operated a Chartered Accounting practice catered to small and medium sized businesses.

Lior's diverse experience in taxation, accounting and real estate comes from working in both public practice and industry. As a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Lior worked in the private business division. In the private sector, Lior held the position of financial controller at a North American real estate investment company.

Lior has earned a Bachelor of Arts from York University, is a Chartered Accountant and holds a real estate license.

In his spare time, Lior enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and loves watching and playing hockey.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Tom was an associate at a boutique tax firm, where he specialized in the audit and recovery of commodity tax for public corporations and public service bodies in Ontario, BC, Manitoba and Quebec.

Tom graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, specializing in finance. Tom specialized in management accounting during the process of being designated.

You can find Tom at the gym at 7 am before work, slicing shots to the right at the golf course, or managing his fantasy sports team from his living room couch. Tom also enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their cat named Sampson.

Emma graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University with a degree in Business Administration. Afterward, she pursued her CPA designation while working as a financial analyst for a major paper manufacturing company. In this role, she managed complex financial data, prepared financial statements, supervised month-end processes, and worked on enhancing the company's IT procedures.

Passionate about supporting growing businesses, Emma focuses on optimizing accounting and back-office operations. At ConnectCPA, she leads various initiatives aimed at streamlining processes through automation and efficiency, helping clients scale with modern, effective systems.

Outside of work, Emma loves spending time outdoors. Her hobbies include horse riding, hiking, and running with her adventurous Labrador Retriever. She enjoys sharing outdoor adventures with her two daughters and is actively engaged in her community, frequently volunteering.

With over 18 years of experience in public accounting and tax, Charles works closely with entrepreneurs and business owners on corporate reorganization, estate and succession planning, purchase and sale of businesses, and cross-border tax matters. Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Charles was the tax practice leader at a midsize accounting firm. In his early career, he worked as a tax manager at Deloitte, focusing on private companies in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors.

Charles holds a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University. Charles is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a designated Trust and Estate Practitioner in Canada.

In his spare time, Charles enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter. He is a stats nerd and loves building jigsaw puzzles and Lego projects with his kids. He also enjoys music, tennis, and hockey.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Jeff was a Bookkeeper for Equity Bookkeeping, where he specialized in providing bookkeeping support to small businesses.

Jeff is currently working towards his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting with Athabasca University.

Outside of work, Jeff enjoys watching TV, camping, hiking, scouting and spending time with his family.

Adam graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Economics in 2008 and graduated from BCIT with a diploma in Business Information Technology Management in 2016. During this time, he planted over 1.5 million trees by hand during the springs and summers of 2005 to 2016 in the forests of Northern BC and Alberta.

Prior to working at ConnectCPA, Adam worked for a business intelligence software helping customers build data visualizations and dashboards for their reporting needs.

In his spare time, you can find Adam enjoying life with his wife, newborn daughter and dog. He enjoys sports and exercise, whether it be cross-country skiing and hockey in the winter or running and exploring in the mountains in the summer. He is also an avid Vancouver Canucks fan.

Dawn is a seasoned accountant (CPA/CMA) with diverse industry experience including construction, education, science, manufacturing, medical, food, gaming, and agriculture to name a few.

She is a proud techie who loves learning, configuring, and using software apps.

During her free time, Dawn writes short stories and poetry as a creative outlet. She also loves to get outside and be with nature, hiking, walking or just taking in the scenery with her family.

Chris has been with ConnectCPA since 2017.  Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Chris worked for 3 years in the private enterprise group at MNP LLP.  Chris specialized in accounting and tax for small to mid-sized businesses.

Chris has obtained his CPA designation.  Prior to that, he graduated from Ryerson university with a bachelor's degree in commerce, majoring in accounting.

Chris loves traveling, spending time up north in cottage country, taking his dog out for walks, and in the winter Chris is an avid skier.

Nikia has extensive experience in both public and industry accounting in the areas of financial reporting, tax, insurance, budgeting, and forecasting. Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Nikia worked as a Manager in the insurance industry as well as owned and operated a Chartered Accounting firm tailored to small businesses. Nikia is a Chartered Accountant and she obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree with an accounting major and her Master in Professional Accounting degree, both from the University of Saskatchewan. In her spare time, Nikia loves to travel and spend time with family and friends. She enjoys being active and riding her sport bike.

Before ConnectCPA, Andrea worked as a manager at a boutique public accounting firm where she was responsible for detailed review of compilations, assurance engagements, and tax returns. Through performing assurance and advisory services, she developed an interest in providing clients with a more comprehensive accounting experience. She worked closely with the managing partner to provide clients with added value, whether it be advising on accounting policy changes, internal control recommendations, or assisting with tax issues.Andrea graduated with her Bachelors in Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo and obtained her CPA shortly after. In her downtime, Andrea enjoys staying active with her partner, and you can likely find her at a bouldering gym in the GTA.

Prior to becoming an Accountant, Leslie spent eleven years as a marketing professional in the software industry. During this time, she found that financial management was segregated from sales and marketing. This drove her to pursue her CPA for a better understanding of financial impact in decision-making.

Leslie worked as an Accountant for a Lower Mainland (BC) bicycle retail business before working in Public Practice when she moved to Squamish with her husband and two young boys in 2016. Leslie has been a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia since 2015.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Jared worked for MNP LLP as a Manager, focusing on small and medium-sized private businesses as well as personal and corporate tax. Jared obtained his CPA designation in 2017. Before that, he graduated from Camosun College with a bachelor's degree in business, majoring in accounting.

Jared enjoys building long-term client relationships and strategizing with clients to find the best solutions for their specific needs.

When he’s not working, he can be found mountain biking or spending time with his wife and daughter.

Nathan brings with him experience in taxation, reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and cloud accounting.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Nathan worked as a Senior Manager for Doane Grant Thornton specializing in Cloud Accounting supporting for-profit businesses and non-profit entities with financial reporting, sales tax compliance, and setting up financial systems & workflows. Previously as a Senior Financial Analyst with the County of Grande Prairie focused on multi-year Municipal budgets, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation. Growing up in a small business family Nathan developed a deep appreciation for the interplay between finances, business operations, and impact to the community.  

Nathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting from Athabasca University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

In his spare time, Nathan spends time with his family including two active boys and attempts to still feel athletic by playing and coaching sports.

Before joining ConnectCPA, Bo worked for two small accounting firms out of Medicine Hat, focusing on personal tax and small corporations.

Bo graduated from Athabasca University with a Bachelor of Commerce and a major in Accounting. He has recently completed the CPA program and is working towards the final experience requirements to achieve full designation.

In his free time, Bo can be found reading, hosting bbq and board game nights with friends, and gaming. During the summer he likes to get out for walks with his three dogs, golfing, and camping with his wife.

In the 7 years prior to working at ConnectCPA, Alexis worked at Equitable Life of Canada and Revera in multiple payroll roles. Her experience includes payroll processing, month and year-end reporting and configuring payroll system requirements.

Alexis completed her Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP) and received the Canadian Payroll Association Certification Achievement Award (Gold - Ontario Region) in 2019.

She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and also completed the Post Graduate Human Resources Management Certificate at Conestoga College, where she graduated with high distinction.

In her spare time, Alexis likes to spend time with her partner as well as her cat, Chewie. She likes baking (easy recipes only!) and watching reality tv.

Prior to working at ConnectCPA, Celine worked as a bookkeeper for a bookkeeping firm in Edmonton. Celine has a Diploma in Business Administration (major in Accounting) from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and is currently completing courses for the Bachelor of Business Administration program.

Outside of work, Celine enjoys getting outside, doing DIY projects, or trying out new recipes. In the warmer months, she can be found camping and exploring new places around Alberta and British Columbia. She also enjoys spending quality time with friends and family.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA in 2019, Julia worked with various accounting firms and financial institutions, such as KPMG, BDO, and Scotiabank.

She obtained her Chartered Accountant designation in 2012. Julia graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 2008. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (major in Accounting) while playing ice hockey with the nationally ranked X-Women.

Julia now enjoys being active back home in Newfoundland, playing whatever sport she can. She also enjoys spending time - at the cabin - with her husband, Michael, and their beloved dog, Dougie.

Prior to working at ConnectCPA, Michelle worked as an Accountant for several companies in Toronto. Before that, she worked as an Accounting Clerk for a large corporation in Regina.

Michelle holds an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from George Brown College, and is currently taking courses through Fanshawe to complete her Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

Outside of work Michelle enjoys cooking, baking, camping, spending time outdoors with her husband and dog, and trying new local restaurants.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Jen worked the last 20 years completing financials for companies remotely and from office structure as a finance supervisor. She resides in northern British Columbia and enjoys learning new technologies.

Outside of work Jenny enjoys hunting for agates on the beach with her family and attempting to garden.

Rodney graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy last 2012 and has passed the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination in the same year.

Before joining ConnectCPA, Rodney worked as a Senior Team Lead in a shared service company.

Rodney likes hanging out with his wife, watching movies, reading Japanese manga, and traveling.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Pooja was working with Citigroup, Dubai as an Accounting and a Finance Analyst and brings with her experience in Full cycle accounting, Financial planning and analysis, capital budgeting and management reporting.

Pooja holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree, major in accounting as well as an Advanced Diploma in Business Finance. She is currently enrolled in the CPA program to obtain her designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant.

In her spare time, Pooja loves to go out for long drives with her husband and enjoy the beautiful mountain views around Calgary and try new restaurants around the city.

Before joining ConnectCPA, Eden worked as an accountant within the financial services, financial technology as well as healthcare industry. Thereafter, she moved into the auditing space where she obtained experience with small and medium-sized enterprises. She also spent time as a consultant, where she helped businesses to improve their financial processes to operate more efficiently.

She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences. She is currently pursuing her CGMA designation through CIMA.

In her spare time, Eden tries to spend as much time as possible outside. She also enjoys food, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Prior to working for ConnectCPA, Rebecca worked for 10 years as the Controller for a manufacturing company. In this role, she managed the complete accounting cycle, including supervising the accounting team, preparing financial statements, enhancing the company’s policies and procedures, and many other administrative functions.

She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Business Administration in 2008, worked in accounting and finance roles ever since then, and then finally in 2021 she decided to pursue her CPA designation (and she’s still working on it!). Rebecca doesn’t subscribe to the “accounting is boring” stereotype - she’s passionate about supporting businesses and helping them with their financial success.

Outside of work, Rebecca’s hobbies include playing tennis and spending time with her husband and kids.

Prior to working at ConnectCPA, Sarah worked as an Auditor for a Big 4 accounting firm and as an Accountant for a large corporation in Saskatchewan.

Sarah holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and a Masters degree in Management from the University of Windsor. She is also a Chartered Accountant.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys cooking, baking, reading, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Mariella was a Bookkeeping Support Specialist for a Public Accounting Firm, where she specialized in providing bookkeeping support to small to medium businesses.

It was here that she found her interest with technology and web-based apps.

Outside of work, Mariella enjoys watching baseball, spending time with her family and playing Darts.

Cassidy graduated from Saint Mary's University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Human Resources.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Cassidy worked as an Accounting Assistant with a utility company.

Cassidy enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their dog, Rey. They like to go on adventures around their city and explore through the woods around home. She is an avid photographer, music-lover, dog-lover, and writer, having published her first children's book about her beloved rescue dog in 2022.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Jezelle was a bookkeeper and tax analyst for a boutique tax law firm. She also worked as an accounting clerk for a midsize company. She brings with her experience in various accounting applications and a love for learning new tech.

Jezelle graduated from Seneca College with a Bachelors of Commerce in International Accounting and Finance.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, watching crime shows, creating digital stickers for her digital planner, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Jennifer worked as a Financial Analyst at Culligan Water.

Jennifer Graduated from Laurentian University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree.

In her spare time Jennifer enjoys doing CrossFit and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Sandra was a Bookkeeper for a Public Accounting Firm, where she specialized in providing bookkeeping services to small and medium-sized businesses.

Outside of work, Sandra enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her Chihuahua. Sandra enjoys gardening, cooking, baking, and holiday craft time with family. Sandra also enjoys helping with local musical theatre productions along with her family. Newsies is one of her favorite productions.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Rizza was a full-time bookkeeper at a franchised accounting firm in Calgary, Alberta. Rizza has a diploma in Accounting from Adamson University, Philippines.

Outside work, Rizza enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Rachelle was a Senior Bookkeeper and Onboarding Specialist for a start-up Bookkeeping Firm, where she specialized in onboarding clients from small to medium-sized businesses and helped lead a team of bookkeepers.

Outside of work, Rachelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Rachelle enjoys being in the sun when the weather is nice working in the yard, walking & hiking, paddle boarding, and boating.

During the winter Rachelle likes to stay inside cooking, baking and binging shows with her daughter. Rachelle also enjoys watching her son play and compete in various sporting activities.

Before working at ConnectCPA, Ken was an Accountant for a Vancouver-based accounting firm with a concentration on various charities, and indigenous, and non-profit organizations in Canada.

Ken is a Certified Management Accountant with a bachelor's degree in Management Accounting from the Angeles University Foundation in the Philippines.

If you don't see Ken refining his palate by trying out different cultures' cuisine with his partner, he might be hiking in the mountains or enjoying the sea view by the shore.

Brendan discovered the world of accounting at a summer job during his time studying Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University and hasn't looked back.

Over the past twelve years he has worked almost exclusively for accounting firms providing accounting services to clients and preparing both their personal and corporate tax returns and financial statements.

Brendan has been using online accounting tools for the past five years and is excited to see how technology is going to continue to streamline the accounting process in the future.

He is an avid sports watcher and enjoys playing golf, baseball, and curling when he is not too busy with his children. At the end of the day, Brendan likes to unwind by exploring what Netflix has to offer or by reading a book, usually a fantasy novel.

Jose joined ConnectCPA with vast sales and management consulting experience, primarily focusing on technology startups and scaleups. He has previously held consulting and sales roles within the management consulting, CPG, hydro, and tech industries.

Jose graduated from the UNAM in Argentina with a Bachelor's in Business Management, Specializing in Finance and Strategy. Currently, he is in the process of finishing his MBA at the University of British Columbia.

Outside of work, Jose enjoys playing basketball and tennis and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Maggie developed her skills in people management and recruitment in both the retail and insurance industry. In her previous roles, her passion for people helped foster positive work environments, employee retention, development, and growth.

Outside of work, Maggie loves taking road trips and exploring Atlantic Canada with her husband and son. Her hobbies include reading, gaming, and creating clothing using vintage materials.

Prior to joining ConnectCPA, Marge worked as an office manager in a safety solutions company in Qatar for more than 8 years. Afterwards, she went back to the Philippines and managed the school she and her family co-owned. Her diverse specialties include administration, people & culture, strategic planning, implementation, team leadership and business development.

Marge holds a degree in Business Administration specializing in Marketing. She also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and graduated with Latin Honors.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, caring for her dogs, gardening & landscaping, home renovation projects & decorating and trying new hobbies.

Claire graduated with a degree in Communications and Multimedia Arts in 2015. Prior to joining ConnectCPA, she worked as an Associate Publishing Specialist at the legal business unit of Thomson Reuters (TR) where her tasks involved acquiring and editing manuscripts, resolving publication errors, and performing quality control of the core content.

On top of her production work at TR, she also engaged in a different kind of "production" - shooting and editing corporate videos - to be played throughout the corporate site and designing event or campaign teasers for the company.

When she's not at work, you can find Claire at home, working on art projects, planning her next hiking adventure with friends, or spending quality time with her family.

Redine graduated with a degree in Management Accounting in 2014, and acquired her second degree in Accounting in 2016. She is also a Certified Bookkeeper.

Prior to working at ConnectCPA, Redine worked as an Accounting intern at Drake International.

Outside work, Redine loves trying out new recipes that she uncovers from watching cooking shows online, most of the time inspired by the cuisines she has tried from different cities she visits. She loves spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys watching movies and TV shows, especially reruns of FRIENDS.

Leyn is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines. Prior to her work at ConnectCPA, she taught at a local university and managed a small accounting services firm. Her professional experience is gained mostly from the financial services industry, specializing in accounting, finance and taxation. Leyn completed her Accounting degree from a state university in the Philippines and is currently working on her Masters Degree in Business Administration.

As a wife and mother to two energetic boys, she has her hands full but makes sure to squeeze in her favourite Korean dramas into her busy life.
